We are building a brand using IQ at the end of a generic name. We have found that to buy a generic name for the average person or company is impossible, either the name is being used or the price for the name is too expensive. About a year ago we started to build our brand using IQ at the end of a generic name. Other companies have had to think out of the box just as we had to. If you have the capital than you may be able to get the domain you want provided the owner is willing to sell it.
Four things you should have in a domain name:
MEMORABLE - SHORT - GENERIC - DOT COM
The one exception for not owning a dot com is if you live in a specific country and are going to do business in that one country than you should get the country extension. If you were going to do business in Germany than you would want that country .de, and do the same for other countries.
Other companies using IQ at the end of a name are:
Standard and Poors using capitaliq.com
Bing using buyeriq.com
History Channel using historyiq.com
Kellogs using cerealiq.com
I would like to give you a snapshot of different registrations dated: 4-15-2009.
.com - 80,248,000
.net - 12,201,000
.org - 7,588,000
.info - 5,154,000
.biz - 2,042,000
As you can see from the numbers above there are more than 6 times more .com registered
than the .net, so as you can see the .com is the most favored extension. If you own the .net
it is possible the consumer or party that is going to your website may type in .com from habit
and it is possible they would go to your competitor.
As much as I would like to develop all of these names it may not be possible without a partnership, should you be interested in having further discussions about a partnership you
may contact me using the contact form.
If anyone is interested in any of my names you may contact me using the contact form. Some of these names may be available. Prices start at $2700.00
Best regards,
Richard St Cyr
PS One of the names I own is flowersiq.com, now flowers.com has a value of $40,000,000.00
If you were going to start a flower business which name would you like to purchase. Food
for thought.
